I was at the grocery store earlier today and as I'm walking down the cereal aisle what do I see but a box of "Limited Edition" Chocolate and Strawberry Special K.
I like Special K and I LOVE chocolate and strawberries so I put the box in the cart and I'm practically drooling all the way to the check out.
I get home and open the box and pour it into the bowl with milk and I'm all giddy with anticipation. Talk about disappointment! The "chocolate" was in the form of little waxy shard like pellets that resembled mouse droppings and had no taste at all. The strawberries, as I expected, were dehydrated rocks that didn't even soften up when the milk was added to it and they had the most bitter flavor I've ever tasted. YUCK!
I usually don't fall for pretty packaging or gimmicky stuff, but it looked SO good! Lesson learned I suppose.

(4,243 posts)I guess I was taken in by the pretty packaging and the idea of chocolate and strawberries today had me excited. Thanks for the info I think I'll check it out.

(14,061 posts)So much so that I would pick out the strawberries and have them as a snack.
I haven't bought any in awhile, so maybe it's changed.
Sorry about that.

(4,243 posts)strawberries didn't seem as bitter as they did today. Maybe I just got a stale box?
Maybe I should write Kellogg's a "strongly worded letter"

(11,065 posts)in favor of 1001 flavos of Pop-Tarts.
I will NEVER forgive them for that.

(4,243 posts)but I used to love strawberry frosted Pop Tarts. Even those seem to have changed in flavor.

(4,243 posts)It's true. The chocolate pieces were about 1/8" long and looked like something you would find behind the freezer in the basement.
