Apparently no one here is interested in booze without booze in it.

I know one guy who drinks it non-alcoholic beer regularly, just because he wants to feel like he's having a beer, even if he'll stay sober the entire time time. Most people I know who've tried that sort of thing either just give up the fake stuff or go back to drinking.

Anything NA tastes like the Nutri-Matic's tea from Hitchhiker's Guide - almost but not quite entirely unlike what it's supposed to be.

Quite seriously, the lack of that 5-15% alcohol in the beer or wine significantly changes the flavor, which is in large part the reason I drink it in the first place (the buzz is nice, but if I'm chasing it, well that's why they invented Buffalo Trace). I can't feel like I'm having a beer if I'm drinking some vaguely bitter rotten-wheat flavored fizzy beverage that clearly ISN'T beer - if I can't have a REAL BEER I'll just drink an Arnold Palmer or Coke or something.

I don't really consider beer to be "drinking." For that, there's bourbon. Beer is just a nice drink to me. I have no problem just having one or sticking with water or something if I'm driving. Other people can't do that, and if this stuff helps them, all the better.

I'm 55 days into my quit, and yes I poo poo'ed NA beer before too, but it helps me. I have drastically changed my life and habits, however I still enjoy crawfish boils and stuff where I would usually drink. Drinking a NA beer allows me to "feel" like I am drinking without the endless list of bad things that would subsequently occur.

MADD can keep their non-alcoholic wine. Seriously, what's the point of drinking wine, beer, whiskey, etc. without the alcohol?

I think they're drunk with power, and hold too much sway over politicians as it is.

but i don't have the interest or time to get buzzed--if i bought NA beer i'd drink it more often than i drink the reg. beer that has been living in the fridge for about about a year.

wine? ugh. and it has a "complicated" aftertaste? that sounds real scary.

it doesn't annihilate your taste buds like pure white grape juice would.

Cut white grape juice with water, still or sparkling, and add a pinch of citric acid and a hint of salt to sharpen it a little. Probably cheaper and a whole lot tastier since it's not trying to be wine without the essence.

Also, I have nothing good to say about MADD these days and wouldn't touch anything associated with them with a 39 1/2-foot pole.
