It's nice to go out and clip a few stalks for the breakfast bloody marys. The spicy V-8 with a five or six drops of Tabasco makes for an excellent drink!

And rosemary, thyme, oregeno, cillantro, and those types.

I think most of it was winter killed this year. We had a sustained cold spell here. Some stuff froze to death..

We grow all of the ones you mentioned and a bunch of other stuff too. The basil LOVES our herb box, which is good since we love pesto.

Seems delicate and doesn't do great. Once I tried a regular basil that tasted strong and spicy. Did not care for the intensity. Sweet basil is less pungent.

One couple I know, buys fresh plants you take home and put in a water glass by the sink. They do a simple pizza on their out door fancy grill. They pick up dough already prepared in a bag, from, Winco. Roll out flat circles, put on, tomatoes, (canned, whole, that they crush) use fresh basil leaves, and then, sliced chunks of mozzarella cheese and then bake. It is wildly good considering the simplicity.

I guess you could call it a sweet basil, but it's perfect for pesto. Just keep the flower stems clipped. If you don't, it will bolt in a couple of days. We grow 9 plants in a 4x4' space. We made the mistake of doing 16 plants in the same spot the first year the box was up. We were BEGGING people to take some basil!!!

Short, sweet, and violent. Sounded like twenty nine tap dancers on the roof. High winds, lightening, thunder.

Sunshine and crocus, today. Clear and cold.

a few summers ago, my friend and i were sitting on my front porch when we began to hear this noise approaching. at first i couldn't figure it out, then i realized i was hearing the hail coming our way, i'd never heard anything like that before. it was pretty cool.

it's supposed to be cold and snowy this weekend, they're expecting four to eight inches, but i'll believe it when i see it. we didn't get nearly enough snow this year and unless it's a wet spring, we're in trouble this summer.

I like it best when enough snowfall keeps the water tables up. Everything is irrigated in this region. We are coming out of a ten year low water period.

There is something exciting about a big booming weather event. I actually like it when the electricity goes out and I have to burn a candle in the dark. But just for a while.
