The man himself and what he caused to be were both horrendous and monstrous... but the
preposterous idea that a mere snack would have mellowed him out and the sudden and
completely unexpected carnival mirror portrayal of him as a clown were very funny indeed.
Set so smoothly into the context of a current ad campaign added another layer. IMneverHO,
those are all good reasons to laugh at him and about him.
.
Considering his hyper-ego, I think if he had survived, the best punishment for him would have
been to display him to all in some buffoonish portrayal and allow people to walk by his cell and
simply laugh at him. His fury would have consumed him from the inside out in no time.
.
I believe there's many aspects to the power of laughter.

it's the same thing with the "Hitler Finds Out..." meme on YouTube. Those absolutely crack me up!

"The Producers"....same kind of human reaction to the unthinkable going on.

Maybe part of it's that he's too monstrous--what he created was too gigantic--to even comprehend. That makes it perfect for humor like this....we wish to be able to remake the thing.....

And there will always be people who try to stop such humor, who insist on pure gravitas. I don't agree...it's just not the human way of reacting. I remember the HILARIOUS Tourette's Syndrome skits on Saturday Night Live. So brilliant, but they got banned because of dour Arbiters of Seriousness, the Tourette's Syndrome Association.

I know the line between meanness and inclusiveness is a very fine one, and kind of subjective too.....to me, those skits were on the side of understanding, acceptance and community, not ostracism.
