(72,300 posts)At least that's what they told me when I was learning to drive a big school bus.

(24,146 posts)sitting in traffic at a red light, the reverse lights came on and there was nothing for me to do except blare the horn and brace myself. of course, i was in my volvo so the damage was just cosmetic, but we still had to total the car and buy it back from the insurance company. poor girl has a wrinkly nose now.
that was the only time i cried myself out of a ticket, too. didn't have a current insurance card in the car and the cop said he was going to ticket me. i was 19 and still in shock that the bus had actually done it, so my unintentional reaction was to burst into tears. the cop freaked out and told me to just bring a copy of the card by the station within 24 hours.

(72,300 posts)The DUer Jeff R told the trucking company he works for that I still have a CLD I freaked!
Last thing I feel like doing now is getting behind the wheel of anything big.
How far back over your car did the bus go? Some times a driver isn't aware that they hit anything small.
I take it you weren't hurt at all.

(24,146 posts)didn't even push me back that far. car was still driveable and no injuries. i was more shocked and dumbfounded as to why he did it in the first place.

(10,418 posts)I've done something like that before. I parked a little truck I had at a fast food restaurant one time and for some reason I left the truck out of gear. I think I got distracted when I was parking. I also didn't have the emergency brake set. I got out of the truck and went inside to get some food. A guy tapped me on the shoulder while I was standing in line and asked me if I owned a red S-10 pick-up. I said yes and he pointed out the window. My truck had rolled backwards into his truck. His truck was larger and I caught his bumper with my tailgate. There was very little damage to his truck, but my tailgate had a big ol' dent in it. I exchanged insurance information with the guy, but I don't think he turned it in.

(72,300 posts)I think that car was driven by one of our pilot car owners from yesterday. He couldn't stop talking about dumb truck drivers. I doubt he'll ever run with us again after I tell the owner of the company the stunt he pulled yesterday.
Our load required 3 escorts. 118 foot long. He said "I'm going to check out the parking spot". Off he went. We're luck we didn't get spotted by a DOT or we would have been shut down. He left the load two miles before we got back onto the interstate. We ran 5 exits without him.
