I hear the hamster rustling around though. He is nocturnal.

(46,179 posts)She's begun her morning nap, curled up on a cloth shopping bag on the top shelf on my left.
Up to now? She has charged back and forth through the house, spun in circles on the rug, rearranged a few toys, sat in the big window "ack ack acking" at the birds, sat on my keyboard, stuck her face and paws into my water glass, hopped up on the cpu to stare down at me as I typed, sat on the bank ledger I was working on, knocked the kleenex box on the floor, bitten me repeatedly in the bathroom, chased and batted the dog, tried to get into my bowl of cereal, snuck into the paper bag I left on the floor and charged out of it after both the dog and I, jumped into the cardboard box I left for her and started biting off chunks of cardboard, knocked a plant off its window ledge, and uprooted her cat grass. Again.

(10,271 posts)Now that they know they won't be getting any bacon, although the little one is doing her usual senile wandering through the house.
Wait Wut
(8,492 posts)They wake me up over an hour before the alarm goes off so I can feed them. Then they sit around and stare at me like I'm ruining their morning nap by not leaving for work right away.

(9,904 posts)shes afraid to go out unless it is nightime. Let her out during the day and she eventually climbs the screen door meowing to be let back inside!!!

(2,951 posts)He was caught in the fan blade of our truck one day. It opened his back from neck to tail. He survived the trauma, but after that would not set paw outside during daylight hours. As soon as dark fell, off he went, but he was always back before daylight.
I had never seen an animal so terrified as he when I would try to put him out during the day. Poor thing was pitiful.

Miss Sophie is sleeping at my feet at the moment but she'll be beside herself with joy in about half an hour when I take her to the park.

(9,808 posts)She's 21 (104 in human years) and is losing her very clever, devious mind. Mostly, it's short term memory that's going, so she will go searching for one of her humans by walking through the house and yelling for us. By the time she finishes her circuit, she has forgotten she just located us, so she starts over. Even if she finds us or we come to her, she forgets. It's kitty Alzheimer's, and there's nothing to be done, but she's happy, comfortable and still pretty healthy.
And bad as it sounds, sometimes it's kind of funny to watch her rediscover her food dish over and over (and encouraging to see her eat well each time -- she's tiny, 4.5 pounds, so she can eat as much as she wants.)

(24,764 posts)Max was stuck in the building next door for three days, from Monday till today. Good thing my landlord came over and unlocked the door where he was trapped.
My cats would run away from an open door until I picked up and installed one of those As Seen On TV screens you put over the door. Now they don't want to come in (except maybe when it pours). Fortunately, they don't leave the yard, so I have no trouble letting them out.
