I don't want to sound crazy but is anyone else having an unusually back 2013?

Never believe in the whole Friday the 13th thing. Or 13 being an unlucky number --Hell I was born on the 13th--BUT this year my wife and I have had an incredible string of just bad luck. We can't wait for this year to end and we are holding our breaths...

If anyone else finding this year having trouble?

Best and most relaxed summer I've had in a while. It's amazing how much you get done when you're being laid back.

Hope yours gets better.

My hell year was 2011. I had a breakup from hell (left me stranded as I moved halfway across the country), my cat died when I was on the road, and my professional reputation was ruined.

2013 saw me try to recover that reputation only to get a job 8 hours away that pays a lot better and has benefits, so I took it. I'm still learning the ropes of my new area.

2012 was awesome.

In the first two months, I went to 3 funerals. Then in March I ended up in the hospital and missed almost 2 months of work. My son also was in the hospital around the same time.

Things are finally looking up.... but I'm almost afraid to exhale. It's funny because at the beginning of 2013, I just had bad feeling about "the curse of 13." Only 5 months to go! Better luck to us all!!!

It isn't as bad as 2001 though. That really was the "year from hell" for us.

Six deaths and now a 20 year old girl just had a heart attack and is suffering brain damage. I cannot wait for this year to be over. It's been brutal.

There are days when the future is so dark that it's like looking into an abyss.

Though there is a chance that, if things break my way, things will dramatically improve within the next week or so...or not.

Right now, the way my luck runs, I'm betting on the ...or not.

So, no, it's not just you having a crappy 2013.

Hope things get better.

When we have incredible runs of GOOD "luck" in our lives, we tend not to
notice them because, I think... we kind of take it for granted that it's simply
the way life SHOULD be (and it is). Look back now and find some of THOSE
runs -- you won't feel so bad about this run of bad.
.
And sometimes, as the quote above implies, I also think sometimes we have
to kickstart another run of good luck.

Aunt Adele was a wonderful woman.

This house (that we bought last summer) keeps having little problems that needs a repair person. Got the AC fixed ... now I smell a gas leak in the kitchen.

My car broke down, cost just under $2,000 to fix.

Two of my doves died.

Seasons, politics, (especially in election years like 2012,) new stuff, old stuff.

It's been over 20 years since my worst year, while I'm not overjoyed or depressed, I am content.

I have my two sweet little cats as room-mates, only thing that bugs me is the History channel going so kooky.

but not good - lost my Louis cat , a couple of thousand dollars in vet bills, car totaled, a couple more thousand dollars, a root canal, a damaged concrete wall that I had to get fixed...if I can make it out of this year without going bankrupt I'll be happy.

mixed year at work. While the trend line is currently a little grim still beating my budget by about 140%. Hope to pull things out in Q4. Also have a huge capital project underway and will be worried until I get the final numbers from the builders.

Personally this year has been great though.
