The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've been awarded a scholarship for the upcoming school year.
It's not a huge award, but it will certainly help. Just as good as the money is the recognition from an outside source of my academic achievements. I am very proud. The scholarship is a general scholarship issued by a local donor for residents of the county I live in who have demonstrated academic excellence. I have a 4.0 GPA. I have written my thank you letter and I will be turning it in tomorrow.
For someone who has tried to make school work on a couple of different occasions and failed, this is a very big deal. It will be a big boost to my confidence and perseverance.

(16,232 posts)You should take those writing skills of yours and write an autobiography. You have really done so much since I first met you on here.

(4,033 posts)When I decided to go back to school, I was looking at a school that had classes on Saturdays, which would allow me to keep working full time. My major wasn't available, but I could find something.
Five days after being accepted an alumnus called me saying the school would give me a $10,000 scholarship. This was great but I had to be a full time student. Well I became a full time student taking classes Monday thru Friday. As for my job, I found a job working in a group home from Friday evening to Sunday evening. Full time with benefits.
If it hadn't been for that call, I probably wouldn't have finished.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!! And a big thank you to all those who offer these scholarships!!!!!!
