Especially the ones with Mantan Moreland as his sidekick Birmingham Brown.
Are they racist?
By today's standards I guess you could judge that.
These movies were made in the 30s and 40s.
Different times, for sure.
But Moreland is a stitch.
Very accomplished comedic actor.
His timing is impeccable.

when Boston finally went all night channel 5 played them in order and they still hold up as comedic buddy movie mysteries that were never junky remakes.

on a Philly TV station (can't remember which one). But I had to look up who played Chan in those movies, it was Sidney Toler. That goes way, way back in time. lol
