Only curious. I'm more on the spendy side but I'm getting more thrifty as time goes by, thank god.

(8,217 posts)Oh crap, my mother borrowed money again that will never be returned side.
That's what I get for not having a girlfriend or wife.
Ah well, forever alone... I'm pretty happy that way any way.

(8,217 posts)I have it mostly invested in a mutual fund that gives me checks.
I just make a check for myself when I need it each time it happens.
Thanks for the offer.

on the spending side.
He thinks I spend far too much money on clothes for the kids and me but I shop the deals and hate malls.
I love TJ Maxx and Homegoods.

(21,020 posts)balance between saving and spending, I think.
Which means that in months I choose to save, I refrain from spending too much, and when I decide to spend, I keep it low enough to pay off.
I just told Mr Pipi last night that between the four credit cards I have, my total balance to date is less than $25.00.
I record every purchase so I know what I owe on each card.
Fortunately, I'm married to someone with a similar spending style. In 18 years we have never had an argument over money.

(54,256 posts)My small pension is never going to increase.
Any increase in my S/S will be more than eaten up by increases in my Medicare supplemental policy premium increases.
I will never be able to put more money into my IRA.
In fact, I am required by law to take a certain amount out each year.
And pay taxes on that.
The only way I can stay 'even' is to cut expenses, cut expenses, and then cut expenses.
You can make a pretty good chicken and dumplings with "Iams ProActive Health Adult Filets with Chicken in Gravy" cat food as a base.

(20,234 posts)Maxing out my 403b, maxing out my roth IRA, just signed up to max out my 457 plan. That last one hasn't kicked in yet, I'm a little scared to see what that will bring my paycheck down to. I had to double check that I actually had enough in the paycheck to cover that - it would be bad if my paycheck was actually negative. I know I'll be close.
I can't remember the last time I bought clothing new except for underwear and bras. I make my own yogurt, my own laundry soap, I've been making my own lunches for work for a few decades. During tight times sometimes it was just a plain potato that I microwaved at work. I'm growing and canning or drying what food I can, and couponing a lot of the rest.

(857 posts)is to be an extreme earner. That way I can be both an extreme saver and extreme spender.
