Started using PayPal 6 months ago - buy a lot online.

I live in the bush, closest town is only 2,000 souls, so not much choice in shopping here.

Closest city, of only 50,000 is 50 miles away - so a bit of a drive and expense.

So, I shop online - and it's delivered either to my local Post Office, or the Purolator outlet - a 15 minute drive and only 8 miles.

Even items as large as my wide screen TV and a direct vent propane heater of 75 pounds were delivered to the Post Office.

No pesky salespersons to deal with, (bait and switch) - don't even have to leave my home to shop, and pick up whatever when I go to town for groceries.

Did they give a reason for asking for ID and a bill? (I'm presuming it is a utility bill)

Makes me curious that, I'd be pondering WHY if they asked me.

Now ya got me pondering anyways.

hmmm

4. I think because she is needing a debt card

to get the cash out of paypal that some folks gave her. I have a debt card and use it all the time to buy groceries etc. however, I sell on ebay and other venues and use the money that goes into there from my sales.

Lady Freedom.......I think instead of the debt card you can open a checking account but that may not work as I think you need $100 to open it If you did have one then you can transfer the paypal money into the checking account and get the cash that way. I don't think I ever had to send anything when I got my card but probably because I had the sellers account. I do know when I remarried and changed my name I had to fax a ton of stuff to prove a name change and never had to do that crap when I got it...............yes, they are a rip off if you receive money as they take a percentage off of it.

What if you used the money and sent it to someone that lives near you (maybe another DU'r) I would think you could send it to them from your account to their account if they had one. They then could give you cash if they were close or even send you a money order that you could cash?

It is PayPal that is the problem. They will not release the money at all if I can not give them those two things and $20 buck have went back to the people.

I am glad on that part. I would feel horrified if PayPal kept it instead of giving it back.

If you're taking money over PayPal through any portal except eBay, you have to assume at some point they're just going to seize it for the hell of it.

Bottom Line:
Someone got in to my account. I have no clue how.
Took out close to a K from my bank account which I could have used for travel expenses to FL to a funeral.
Spent the next day trying to get them to do a reverse authorization.
Instead, it brought me to the point that I used miles from Delta which is a whole 'nother problem/drama that I would not get in to.(Needless to say I didn't get to the funeral)

Needless to say, I would have thrown a fit at the airport if I didn't have my ukulele, a friend and her mother with me.

Though thanks, that means a lot.

Everything worked out.
I even got closer to my friend, which is nice.
She had the same flight as me, so when we all got delayed by dumb Delta, her mother took care of getting my refund too.

Thank goodness. Like I said, since that was the same week I had to deal with paypal, I would have thrown a fit in the NY airport.
So, it is all good.

No hassle. Answer a few questions online; they send you a card in a few days. Then you transfer money from paypal to netspend for free. It takes two days. No limit on those transactions by netspend.

www.netspend.com

They have banking services too. You can arrange direct deposit, as well.

"Q: How do I get a NetSpend card?

A: Fill out a quick online order form and we'll ship you a personalized card! There's no credit check and no upfront fees. To activate the Card Account, you will be required to provide your name, street address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We must collect this information in accordance with The USA PATRIOT Act, a Federal law that requires all financial institutions and their third-party service providers to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens a Card Account. Residents of the State of Vermont are ineligible to open a Card Account."

https://www.netspend.com/help/frequently_asked_questions.shtml

It's the "We must collect this information in accordance with The USA PATRIOT Act" part -

uh uh - no way - thank you very much.

I wonder why Vermont is ineligible?

I changed by billing address and a day later try suspended my account until I have a copy of my DL and a bill. Problem was I changed my address because I moved so I didn't have said documents updated until a month later.

Easiest way would be to scan or take a picture and upload directly. Took them two days after that to put my account into normal status.
