40 years ago today, I stood outside the main gate at McGuire AFB

And that was with carrying my duffel bag, a garment bag and a carry on bag.

I was released from active duty at the Oakland Army Terminal upon my return from RVN; I was 20 years old. Was in the Inactive Reserves for 4 more years before I got the official discharge.

9. 40 years ago...

I was partying on the weekends at the Satellite Lounge...I'm sure you know the place. (many of my friends parents were stationed at McQuire AFB)

11. Was there for about 18 hours, just long enough to be processed out after 2 years in Europe.

Yeah, I flew into there a couple of times.
I mustered out 42 years ago.
Was in 'inactive reserves' for I can't remember how long.
Got my DD Form whatever it is in the mail years later.
Complete surprise.
I'm 72 and I think I'm finally a civilian.
