Just slip the glasses in there when you don't need them. Or get that old teacher necklace that hooks onto you glasses so you can just let them hang around your neck when not in use.

with sunglasses, that I will be taking off in the stores but putting back on to drive with, I just slip one of the "ear handles" down the inside front of my shirt/dress/whatever, the glasses hang down the outside front.
With reading glasses, you can do the same thing.
Been doing it that way for years.
Be careful bending over to pet the dog or whatever cause then the glasses can slip off.

I keep my hair short too, never did learn to perch glasses on my head.

I can get the glasses to stay on top of my head but then I forget about them and put on another pair of glasses when I've forgotten where I put the first pair.

People have a tendency to stare when someone has two pairs of glasses on their head.

the glasses get stuck in the hair and I end up painfully pulling some out by the roots to untangle them.

With short hair, I can be sure to recover them if I remember that's where I put them.
