I have done without cable for over a year now. I have a digital antenna, which pulls in some channels, depending on where I place. It's an indoor antenna, but I usually have to put it outside to get any reception. I live in an apartment, so I can't install a permanent one.
My question is this: One channel has apparently disappeared. It used to come it, but no matter where I put the antenna, it won't. I thought I could just enter the channel number on my remote, then try to position the antenna until it came in. But the channel number is 43-1 and I don't know how to enter that number on my remote! I don't think 43 will work, but I'm not sure.
I know that I probably need a more powerful antenna, but they're not cheap and I don't watch much tv. I just want to be able to watch Fox on Sundays and during the World Series. (By the way it pisses me off that almost all the baseball playoffs are on cable. But that's a rant for another post.)

(748 posts)I don't think I would put in your post that you are doing anything illegal.....IMO

(8,921 posts)signals are good with any antenna as long as it's big enough for your location.

(4,299 posts)We recently lost our main PBS station, our 50, because they've lowered signal strength, maybe 15 miles from here; yet other formerly UHF stations are coming in from 40 miles away; oh yeah, they are shopping channels. We have a rooftop antenna on an extended pole. It looks like a flying saucer from down the street.

(16,245 posts)At least not for this area. I guess I'll go to Radio Shack and see what they recommend.

(4,299 posts)told us nothing would get us more than two channels in our area and we should go back to cable.
My husband took it as a challenge.
