My husband's aunt was widow of a past mayor of Albuquerque (not his uncle, her second husband) and showed us around. We got into VIP tents, met the then governor of New Mexico (Pete Domenici?) during the launch of the state balloon.

Our picture of his aunt is in the Balloon Museum - she had a vest with pins from decades of the balloon festival. After her death, no one else had a picture of her in the vest. The vest is in the museum, too.

I didn't know about the Balloon Museum. I'll check it out and look for the vest whenever I get to go

I can just imagine all of those colorful balloons filling the sky in lovely New Mexico. I wonder if some offer rides?

if that tells you how long ago THAT was.

It was incredible. My favorites were the ones shaped like things or faces.
