So I got cast in a play

Woo hoo!

Competition for stage work in Mumbai is pretty intense, but there's a bit of space for a white guy to play the occasional imperialistic villain or what have you. In a slightly less villainous role, I'm playing this guy

in a play about this guy

Their story is really interesting; I had no idea a Hindu monk addressed the parliament of world religions in Chicago in 1893.

I do get a very cool line:

"You ask the Swami for accreditation? Do you ask the Sun to declare its right to shine in the heavens?"

Now I have to work on my Boston Brahmin accent

He still has to cast a lot of people. I'm only in Act II (the rest is set in India and is in Bengali) and he's trying to cast the (much harder to find) Americans first.

It's the story of Swami Vivekananda as told by three people he impacted: his guru, Wright, and a student.

As far as being a little actor, it's not as bad as East Asia, but I do still tower over most of the locals here (we had to special order my wedding Punjabi because not a damn person in West Bengal has shoulders as big as mine...)
