Austin TX DUers...please check in!

I'd like to see who from the old Austin gang is still around and who is new. I left Austin in 2005. GOPisEvil, VelmaD, BlueStateGuy and some of my other co-conspirators left shortly after. Surely there is still a group there....I'd like to see everyone on my next trip in.

Andy Stephenson, though he lived in Seattle at the time, was from Austin originally. I was the one that brought him to DU. He would come to Austin for get-togethers occasionally. I still miss the guy

I didn't make that one.
The first time I met Andy was in Ohio, the next time was in N Y.
We traveled to a N J meet-up together.

I still remember the time in Austin that he walked into the house that GOPisEvil had just bought and started rearranging the living room furniture. GOPisEvil left it that way forever, I think.

I don't remember whose place he was staying in on his visit to N Y but we sat sat alone chatting about investing in gold ingots. He was amazing.

It's especially hard at this time of year since he spent his last Christmas with my family. BTW, he loved you, too.

...at one of our get-togethers? her daughter looked like a super hot version of Chelsea Clinton. but way hotter than Chelsea. and she was sweet and smart. I fell in love, but it was just weeks before I was moving to costa rica.

Although when I joined DU I lived in Houston. I remember Andy, but never got to meet him. One Austin DUer I did meet was Longhorn, who passed away several years ago. She had red hair and a brilliant smile...

But when I got to Austin in Sept of 2005, there were all these anti-war rallies going on. My children and grandchildren dragged me along, and I met Longhorn there on the steps of City Hall. We recognized each other by our mutal tye-dye, LOL. Those were the days...

I'll buy you a beer, hopefully nowhere near downtown. My son-in-law brews some awesome beer, but not lately since he's been busy. Too bad...

We were moderators together. I talked with her when she came to Chicago for treatment. Her death was a blow.
