Last minute travel arrangements

So it looks like my holiday plans have shifted dramatically (not a good thing as my grandfather has days left) and I now have to get from NC to Maine over the next few days.

What are your best suggestions for last minute travel websites (I don't feel like driving my car up there but will rent one if that's the only option. I'd rather not drive that far). If it helps, I'm not far from a major airport.

I'm in California but when I was on the East Coast the train was the way to go.

$291 will take you from Charlotte to Portland in 12 to 14 hours, depends upon which departure time you choose.

Maybe you could drive to the station, pick up a rental in Maine.
