We had a bunch of snow on the ground, but it all melted and that combined with rain today and tomorrow has us under a flood watch.

Snow is pretty, but I hate it with a passion because I drive for a living. Drive several hundred miles on a snowy day and you'll see what I mean. It also sucks working outside around the truck in it which I do quite a bit. You have to use a lot more energy to walk around on snow and ice. I usually slip and bust my ass a couple of times a winter. It catches me when I least suspect it. I'm getting too old for that shit.

I slipped once and cracked my hip bone. One good thing about it was it happened on the pavement at a company where I was working temporarily. Someone had left a sprinkler on overnight and the water froze on the pavement. I stepped out of my car, slipped and went down. I sued for pain and suffering and collected $30,000.

I went ice skating about ten years ago at a rink- hadn't ice skated since I was much younger. Falling on my butt/hip and hand/wrist felt much worse than I remember!

We don't get anything like that here. Too far south and too close to the ocean...

And Tobin, it's only because I don't have to drive or work in it. That puts a whole different wrinkle on things. I wish you safe driving. As you must know, the other drivers out there are your worst danger.

But since I'm retired, the selfish part of me can cheer our anticipated 8" of NEW snow tonight.
