Our Christmas party is generally epic, and we all get each other booze...

My 'Secret Santa' present this year was a couple of 'zombie apocalypse' posters and a 5th of this:

I have actually never tried any of the spiced or dark or black rums but one of my co-workers made some rum cake and that was so good I decided I need to try some good rums and see what's up. I've had some weak rum punch type drinks before but I'm mostly a beer, scotch and tequila guy. I'm off pretty much the rest of the year so I'll have time to visit the good liquor store.

Out party was tough since we were allowed to give and receive booze but we are definitely NOT allowed to open any of it while at work.

He's a beer/scotch/tequila guy too

My 'tasty adult beverage' of choice almost always involves rum, and my cohorts at the pub all know me well
The 'Tattoo' is really tasty on its own, but i'm looking forward to finding things to do with it besides just getting sloppy. *L*

For our yearly party, the owner closes the pub for the night, and it's just us, our spouses/dates/friends, and a host of favorite regulars... usually about 100 people or so. We do a covered-dish potluck (and despite mostly being college students, we have some really good cooks on staff), and the owner hires an outside bartender for the night -- anything we order from the bar is 75% off, and he starts us with a $25 credit.

The 'Secret Santa' things almost always involve alcohol, but always with something personal as well -- the one i got, i gave my #1 bartender a 5th of Jameson whiskey, and wrapped it in a calendar that featured pics of half-naked male soldiers (she has a fetish)...

One of my co-workers got a coffee mug with a picture on it of the person who gave it. It was kind of hilarious.
We do the white elephant thing - all the presents go in a pile, draw numbers for order of picking, pick a wrapped present from the pile or steal an already opened present. Lots of maneuvering. I started out with a fifth of Dewar's and ended up with the Buffalo Trace.

has a 3 year old that LOVES hot sauce. My friends' wife is Korean and they've been feeding that kid hot stuff since before birth. Every once in a while he'll bring in a big plate of stuff she's cooked and it's always great but I think she makes it americanized for us lightweights.

I am still carrying a Gerber small lock blade pocket knife that I bought as a teen in 1981. I have lost this knife for several years at a time, several times, and yet I still have it. One time, a former girlfriend called me and said she had my 'little knife' 3 years after we broke up. I still have this knife more that 30 years after I bought it for 8 bucks.

We employ people to haul newspapers to outlying communities so the carriers don't have to come all the way to Coeur d'Alene to pick them up. Last Saturday, one of these people died in a traffic accident.

I don't think our company shelled out much - other than the extra time we took at lunch to attend - we grabbed a conference room and everyone brought food and gifts. Other departments did their own things.

I work for a Catholic agency and the gift came from someone who is in the seminary. I think he misunderstood my respect for him as true belief in the Church. I'm not a true believer. He meant well.

I'd like to regift the pen but don't know an appropriate person.

Edited to add:

I gave tons of different types of chocolate to my Secret Santa recipeient. Someone told me she liked hot chocolate so I figured she liked chocolate and whatever kind she didn't like, her kids might like. It turns out that she doesn't eat chocolate and doesn't give candy to her kids. I felt so bad about giving such a useless gift.

and then find out different. But like you know your pen was given in the right spirit, maybe your co-worker knows that too. Chances are she knows someone that DOES love chocolate and maybe you saved her the hassle of shopping for that person!

I hope it's me. Chocolate is life.
