Oswego, NY -- More than 50 dogs were rescued last week from an Oswego County puppy mill.
Oswego County SPCA said 50 huskies and two golden retrievers were handed over by a breeder in the village of Hannibal. The dogs were forced to breed so many times and kept in cages for so long that some couldn't even walk, said Tanya Semchenko, president of Oswego County SPCA.
"This was a horrific situation," Semchenko said.
Several agencies are helping to care for the dogs. Glenn Rawls, a rescuer working on behalf of the SPCA, rescued seven dogs from the breeder on Tuesday. On Friday the remaining dogs were rescued.

(1,695 posts)I live in Oswego and it's quite the story for our smallish town. We donated at a local pet shop. I wish I could take in one. We have 3 dogs already. They've got some good people who volunteer around here tho. I think more will step up.
