Aperture melt

Set up an aperture melt in the kiln this morning, just getting to look at it 12 hours later...

1.76 pounds of glass, tri color with a 4" drop onto shelf

Finished piece is 6" in diameter; 1/4" thick.

If I had added another 1.5 pounds of glass, I probably would have filled the entire mold and ended up with fuller shape. Oh well.

I'll refire this tommorrow on a bowl mold and see what happens...

Do the colors melt the same way on the bottom? I love art glass both visually and texturally.

It's still too warm to touch, probably still 200° in the kiln, but I wanted a quick peek.

The bottom will look very similar, however not as pronounced. Also the texture takes on the appearance of the shelf or paper, not as smooth as the top surface.

Thanks for looking!
