Moonrakers is the name for the people of Wiltshire, England based on a folk story set in a time when smuggling was big business in England. The men hid contraband barrels of French brandy in a pond to escape customs officers. While trying to retrieve it at night they were caught by the revenue officers. They explained to the officers that they were trying to rake a round cheese from the reflection of the moon. Thinking that he had come across simpleton yokels, the revenue officer laughed at them and walked away.
