2. 1984 was the year that I discovered MTV and the music of my peer group

instead of whatever my parents happened to have on.

Purple Rain and Heartbreak City were the first 2 albums that I bought, and they both hold up today. (the top 10 in that list had 3 songs from Purple Rain!)
