Johnny Depp looks like a cursed Munchkin from the Land of Oz.
I lost interest part way into the movie and switched channels.

(205,362 posts)I used to watch Dark Shadows when I was a kid, so the draw for me was looking for the cameos by the original stars. I only managed to spot Quentin (David Selby), so meant to watch it again to look for the rest, but I wasn't up to sitting through it again...

(56,912 posts)That movie was awful. Just terrible. Really, really bad.
I wish someone would do a remake that stays true to the intent of the original show instead of camping it up.
I think it has potential to be a really frightful film.

(3,709 posts)I love Johnny Depp... but this was not the vehicle for him. A remake of Dark Shadows could be an extremely intense and frightening... but then I'm certain all producers would do is turn it into a blood and gore fest instead of something truly scary.

(56,828 posts)with Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and others in the movie, it was still pretty much a train wreck. Depp is immensely talented, but he's also been in some real stinkers in recent years - Dark Shadows, Lone Ranger, the last 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies, etc.

(36,301 posts)I watched Dark Shadows as a kid and loved it. While I give Johnny Depp credit for trying, he, IMO, wasn't a good choice to play Barnabas Collins.
