Of course, there were moments of weakness, which only reinforced my parents warnings.

I always seemed to be standing on the side, watching others, whatever they were doing, in a general sense.
I know there are a lot of people who would describe themselves as watchers rather than participants in certain areas of life.
Seemed logical to me, then and now.
Seemed to offer a faster learning curve, don'tcha know.
