holy moly we're getting slammed here

The nor'easter was supposed to start with rain and, last time I looked (admittedly Friday), turn to a couple inches of snow.

We've got at least 8" down now and no sign of letup. Strictly horizontal now. Lights have blinked several times, but so far are holding on. Every so often a gust blows the baby sumacs behind my sunroom and they pelt my windows with little snowballs

My across the street neighbor's canopy is hanging on. I can see it swaying around when the big gusts hit. It's coming a bit undone at the west end, with the tent off the last couple feet of pole and sagging under sunow.

I just walked outside to take care of the pony, and could see that he's using it to protect his rider mower., which is nowburied under about 6" of snow. Unlike his unprotected truck and car that have just an inch or two, with the rest blowing off

Pony is snug, but nervous from the wind and occasional crackle sound of breaking branches in the woods.

Hatches are battened down here. I have enough food stored to last all winter, lol. This reminds me of my birthday storm a couple years back. We lost power and my direct-vent propane refused to work, even though the maint person had "fixed" it just a few weeks earlier. Worst b-day of my life. Huddled in unheated, freezing house with 2 dogs, piles of blakets and glove warmers in strategic spots between my layers of sweats. Found a new maint person to fix the backup heat, so we'll be toasty if we lose power.

I haven't wired it into the house yet but we can run extension cords from it if we are out of power for any length of time. We aren't expecting any frozen precipitation now. The sun is shining brightly.

It's blowing a bit under the barn eves, so there are little droplets on her coat, but she's dry underneath.

It started howling a bit, and there were just two popping sounds outside the window. Dogs jumped up...it's a little spooky. Back to just the dull background roar now. And more snowballs on the windows....
