I'm so excited! Just ordered Christmas ornaments

We're going with retro to match my mercury glass ornaments I inherited from my mother and grandmother. This will be the first time in my adult life our tree will have a 'theme', and I couldn't be more delighted!

These and 6 other sets, plus their 13.5" finial. http://www.amazon.com/Holiday-Splendor-Reflectors-Christmas-Ornaments/dp/B00NKG81AC/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1414970192&sr=1-2&keywords=radko+ornaments+christmas

Anyone else remember these type or ornaments?

She's been gone many years- having some of her ornaments on the tree every year is so special.

We still have some ornaments that are even older -- some of our glass bulbs date back to even before YOU were born! Fancy that! (It's kind of amazing they didn't all break by now)

Unfortunately, it's only a very few. As a child I was fascinated with the ones with the big "dimples" in them. I liked to poke my fingers into those dimples. With my poor depth perception, I'd poke too far and too hard. I poked the middle out of every one of the dimpled ones I could reach.

Maybe I should buy a set of those for Mom to replace the ones I broke when I was little!

I think this summer I'll look to see if someone in my area restores them.

Mom parsed out her decorations when she moved into assisted living. The colors are still rich, although not quite as vivid as they were. My favorites are the ones that still have the original paper hangers; during WWII all metal went to the war effort, so those paper hangers testify to the vintage of those ornaments. Remarkable.

I have many that I accumulated from antique shows & estate sales. I have a few family ornaments, too, including one from around 1900.

I also have a functional set if bubble lights from the 40s. The new "retro" copies don't function the same way.

I remember accidentally breaking them by putting my thumb through the inside more than once -- couldn't keep my grubby little hands off of them.

and I even bought twinkle bulbs this year! Retailers have both old style bulbs and LED bulbs with C7 and C9 sized covers.

I'm also seeing aluminum trees coming back!
