almost 15 years ago, and she told me her name, I jokingly said (in Responding to her last name) Oh, like "in Carl Sagan" and she said yea, my husband

I attended one of his lecture. During Q&A some mouth breather in the audience asked him if he believed in God. He asked breather "Which God"? "Well, the American god!" (Honest). Sagan was the only person in the room who didn't laugh out loud. He was a kind man, but he never suffered fools. His answer reduced to a sentence: He couldn't believe in something that was impossible to know or understand, if that entity even existed.
