Here is the link - WARNING - SPOILER ALERT. The reviewer warns you he discloses plot and spoilers. I just wanted to as well.

The time travel paradox is tricky. In fact it's a narrative mine field. From that review the plot blows up any suspense and gives away the denouement before it even gets to the oh wow CGI. If there are human beings in the future, obviously Our Hero saved the day and humanity survived.

In space, no one can hear you facepalm. During its first weekend of release,Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated Interstellar underperformed at the box office, debuting behind Disney’s Big Hero 6. Although Interstellar is playing well with the fanboy crowd (who gave it high marks on cinema-dudebro-friendly IMDb, where three of Nolan’s movies count in the top 20 user-rated movies), it’s proven divisive with critics.

I think I'll keep my $15 and see something else.

everyone I know who has seen it - one guy told me today he will go see it again this weekend. I didn't read the Slate review but I've heard other reviewers say specifically that it's a good movie even not counting the special effects.

I thought the beginning was slow, and it is a long movie (2:49), but once it got moving, I was thoroughly engaged until the end. I liked that it did a pretty decent job of following scientific principles (unlike idiotic movies like "Lucy" which perpetuate complete myths like only using 10% of the brain). Yes, it's Hollywood, it's sci-fi, and it's going to have some issues for those reasons, but as a science geek myself, I enjoyed the ride.

If you're looking for stuff not to like about this movie, you'll find it. Save your money.

I loved it and I highly recommend it to people who like scifi movies. It's science. It's fiction. It's fun. At times, it's incredibly sad. And it's....big. Really, really big.

not some of the over the top fiction I think of when I hear the term "sci-fi." I think people who are not sci-fi fans may still like this.

11. The political message of Interstellar

One aspect of 'Interstellar' that has been largely ignored is that humans have used up the planet and that massive genocide was committed to reduce the earth's population by half.

One plot point is that NASA was forced to go underground because it refused to take part in the mass killings from space.

There are also no animals left and the blight that is overrunning the world has now reduced the food source to only corn which is also going to die out within 30 years.

Scientists, engineers and doctors are considered obsolete and all the federal school textbooks have been destroyed and replaced by 'corrected' books that proclaim the moon landings were a hoax. They don't say it, but it's an obvious slam against the Texas Board of Education.

In short, this movie is about what the Republcan controlled Senate and House will reap on this world.
