Nearly all of Kuwait's inhabitants also abstain - selling or drinking alcohol is illegal in the country. Kuwait is the lightest-drinking country in the world.

(131,104 posts)You drink like you're from Timor-Leste, which is the joint eighth lightest-drinking country in the world. (AH, that's East Timor.)
The average resident of the United States drinks a total of about 9.2 litres of pure alcohol a year, making it the joint 48th heaviest-drinking country.
You are on course to drink about 1.1 litres of pure alcohol over the year, which is 92% less than the average for men in the United States, and 78% less than the average for women.

(21,925 posts)but not so much in bars or when they're enjoying a relaxing moment after the meal with a good book and a roaring fire. The French drink enormous quantities of cognac, armagnac, or other liqueurs and spirits like benedictine, grand marnier, verveine, pernod, and even whiskey (they seem to have an endless variety of hard liquor, like their cheeses) . In bars they're as apt to drink beer as wine. My mom's French and I've lived in France and done lots of background research on their drinking habits on a personal experiential basis.

(33,688 posts)The "brandy" they make with the leftover grape squeezings. Rocket fuel and it tastes just like lighter fluid; kicks like a Missouri mule just for good measure. A friend of mine who has lived in Burgundy for ten years swears you can use Marc as paint remover. The Burgundians should stick to making wine and cheese.
