And I just laughed my ass off at that last play call by Pete Carroll. Jr. High coaches would not call that play. Funny

(10,893 posts)didn't win this game; the Seahawks lost. They literally had the game in their hands twice with a 10-point lead and being on the verge of scoring the game-winner, and they gave it up both times. That was just too stupid. I can't help but wonder a little myself if somebody got paid off.

And two gawd awful intercepts for Tom Brady.

(10,893 posts)It didn't matter much to me who won, but I was just slightly pulling for Seattle since they have less titles, and since Marshawn is from my hometown.

(21,020 posts)Coaches call controversial plays all the time.
When they work, they're "fantastic"..."brilliant"..."genius"
When they don't work, they're "stupid".
Same play, different results. That's all.

(6,843 posts)You never play man coverage inside the 10 - always zone.
There was ONE thing Seattle could not do yesterday, and that was throw an INT. You can run up the middle, you can try a fade route out the corner of the endzone, you can play action, you CANNOT throw underneath in the middle where the LB were stacked.
To put this in another way,
This play was like splitting kings when the dealer is showing a six in BlackJack.
It is unheard of.

(16,646 posts)Listening to Carroll afterwards, it was obvious they were obsessed with the clock, and worried about giving Brady time to get a field goal. They screwed up, and someone called a dumb play. They had a TO. They had to get a TD. Run once, call TO. Pass next, stop the clock. Run the last play and hope they get the TD. They called a pass because they wanted to stop the clock. They were presuming they wouldn't get the TD but it would give them a chance to set up the run.
They forgot Woody Hayes rule. With a forward pass there are three things that can happen, and two of them are bad.

(72,790 posts)Great play by Butler to sense it was a pass play and to come up with that INT.
Thrilling Super Bowl.
