It's the oddest thing...my new Versa has a tic or something...

the a/c button on my dash goes on when I start the car. I turn it off and it stays off until the next time I start my car.

So it was time for my first oil change and I asked the guy servicing my car about it. He smiled and said it was OK. It's not a problem. It's just something that happens with a Versa. It doesn't signal anything bad, so I can just turn it off.

What am I missing here?

3. I dunno why it's not a problem. I'll have to ask my ex if he knows,

he's a diesel mechanic so he might know the answer.

5. Do you have automatic climate control?

If you do, the AC light just means that it's available for when it's needed.

Is it on when you turn on the defogger? In that case it's on to dehumidify the air if needed. Try turning it to normal heat and see if it goes off.

It's a 2015 Versa so I suspect I do have automatic climate control. I'll call the mechanic who helped me...he was great and gave me his card...

7. If you set a temperature in the car like you do at home

instead of fiddling with heat and fan dials that's probably what it is.

then you probably don't have automatic climate control. Climate control lets you set a preferred temperature and then you don't need to worry about it again. It's a nice little feature but a lot of cars don't have it.

My guess though is that your car probably has a thermometer in it that tells it when it's cold out so it turns on the AC compressor to dehumidify the air so you don't fog the windows up too badly before it warms up.

See what the mechanic says, or call the guy that sold it to you. I don't think it's going to hurt your car in any way even if it's on.

that explains why I don't have the actual defog button like I did on my old 96 altima...

thank you so much for helping me out to understand this car...
