(23,732 posts)Of course the owner may have just taken the poor cat out in the snow, and dammit she's going to get back to her warm house even if she has to drag her along.

(39,961 posts)Heavy cat with a heavy coat. I had a Maine Coon cat that weighed 21 lbs. He was huge to begin with, and his fluffy coat made him look frightening.
Except he was the friendliest, most gregarious dude on the planet.
He tried to fish once in the fish tank, and the fish bit his paw. He never went near it again.
But to be fair, the 85 gal. tank had two near foot long each Pacu's in it. We ended up giving them to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans because the suckers were huge.
The big ol' dude still watched them, though. Plotting a way to get his revenge...

I tried walking my kitty on a leash once...

(7,813 posts)It was like there was a cat shaped beanbag on the end of the leash.

(23,147 posts)Man, you've never seen a cat flip and flop so many times in just a few minutes. He totally freaked out as soon as I snapped on the leash, was absolutely NOT having it.

(50,566 posts)She freaked and flipped and flopped and actually slipped the harness. Never tried that again.
I love how cats usually don't put up with human b.s. like dogs do. That's one reason I love 'em so much.

(13,661 posts)it may be because where were used to live (farmland) they could roam freely during the day, but now that we're in a more urban area, I don't let them out unless they're accompanied by an adult (lol - me) and on a halter-leash. They equate the halter with outdoor time to sniff and pee on things and eat grass. I also only walk them in a protected, grassy area so they don't get spooked (though one spooked himself once and I damn near lost him when he started bucking and flipping - good thing I'd hitched the halter tight or else he'd have been long gone).
The fourth one, though, is fine with the halter on until we get outside, and then the unfamiliar noises and smells make her just crouch in terror and dart back inside. Poor baby, she's always been a scaredy-cat.
I don't think any of them would pull me along on skis, though two are Maine Coons and big enough to pull Santa.

(39,961 posts)Holy cow, I wonder If I can get mine to blade-jor? She would likely be so pissed at me for putting her in a pull harness that I would end up in the next county. There I would be, battered, bruised, with her sitting on top of my body licking her paws daintily.
