man oh man! Thanks! However, I will never see the swoony Sidney Chambers in quite the same light ever again. Wow! I love the cast... so many familiar faces- top notch actors. I'm only on season 1 eps. 6. Great series.

(38,016 posts)This second season run is over but Netflix has both seasons and I would imagine you can buy the show from iTunes or Google Play and other such places.

(38,016 posts)The character, Catherine Cawood, is the most wonderfulest bestest lady protagonist I've seen in years!

(8,071 posts)Happy Valley was definitely on the list. It looks like there's some great stuff out there.

(7,336 posts)If so, he does a breathtaking job of portraying Tommy Lee Jones (oops, I mean Royce). All of the actors in both seasons of Happy Valley are exceptional, but he (and Sarah Lancaster) really stood out for me.

This is the thread it came up in when you were talking about Grantchester.

Isn't it amazing how he can play both of these roles? I think he is a great actor.

(11,771 posts)I agree, James Norton is a fabulous in both Grantchester and Happy Valley.
I'm starting Happy Valley season 2 today... decaf only for me today.

(7,336 posts)I forget which episode, but after Tommy Lee Royce leaves his two flatmates, he is seen, I believe, coming out of a thrift store with different clothing, and glasses, trying to evade detection. He is also carrying a book, War & Peace (at least that's what I thought it was). Guess what? His next role was in a TV mini-series of War & Peace. Heh.

(53,410 posts)I like it very much but I do need to have sub-titles. they're accent is too thick for me.

(7,336 posts)At one point, I was watching a scene between the sisters. I watched for at least a full minute before I realized that I had absolutely no idea what either one was saying.

(11,771 posts)I think that's where they are outside talking about the goat case? I had to watch that opening twice... I'm still not sure.

(53,410 posts)but when the subject matter gets as serious as it does on that show they pretty much drop the humor.

(7,336 posts)It was one that was really, really tough to decipher and the subtitles don't work on my TV so I had no shortcut. Plus, it was a scene where they were trying to speak softly, probably to prevent our Ryan from hearing. The scene was in the kitchen.
I wish there were about 30 more episodes available, that's how much I miss watching it.
