Here she is, the day I rescued her from the back yard...tore open the sac, cut the cord & bottle fed her and her siblings
and here she is on the day we helped her leave (she had a thrombosis & could no longer stand or walk).. My husband is holding her
She was still her sweet-natured self, but she had no options for a life.. She never complained and the day it happened, she managed to not even have an accident , even though I carried her to the kitty-potty-room, she held it
We are new here, and were lucky to find a compassionate vet who saw her and gave us the bad news.
It hurts to lose her, but if her feral Mom had had the litter a few hours later, we would have found 5 dead kittens all over the back yard the next morning.. so I guess the 4826 days she had were a blessing for her and us..
RIP Sara

(1,591 posts)Sara was lucky you found her and gave her a quality life! I know what it's like to help a beloved pet leave us and it is never easy, but always the right choice because it's done with love. I'm not religious at all, but I choose to believe our pets will be waiting for us somewhere.

(23,692 posts)Just going on 3 weeks I lost my black beauty, a feral that was part of my life for 8 years. My one consolation is that I gave her a good life she would not have had otherwise.
I am so sorry for your loss, Sara looks like a sweet girl and she was loved and cared for 13 years. She is no longer in pain.
