(13,771 posts)Good ones and bad ones!
Cersei
Catelyn
Lady Brienne
Sansa
Arya
margaery
Lady Oleanna
Lady Greyjoy (forgot her name)
Princess of Dorne
Red lady
And, of course, Danaerys.
I'm sure I forgot a few because women are so well represented. They're not just ornaments in the story, they're protagonists! It's awesome!

(56,828 posts)is Yara on the TV show, and Asha in the books. (They changed the name for TV because they thought people would confuse Asha with the wilding woman Osha, played by Natalie Tena.)
You could say that women have driven almost the entire story - as the rebellion of Robert Baratheon started in reaction to his love Lyanna Stark running off with Rhaegar Targaryen (or, she was kidnapped by Rhaegar if you go by what Robert said.)
And, the current story's events are the result of Catelyn taking Tyrion Lannister prisoner, and then Ned being taken prisoner in reaction to that, and eventually executed. And, Ned becoming Hand of the King was in reaction to Lyssa Arryn poisoning her husband at the behest of Littlefinger and blaming the Lannisters.

...and a pivotal point in the Season Six storyline:
"Your son was butchered at the Red Wedding, Lord Manderly, but you refused the call," she says, the ice-cold toughness of a world-weary warrior in her young voice. "You swore allegiance to House Stark, Lord Glover, but in their hour of greatest need, you refused the call. And you, Lord Cerwyn, your father was skinned alive by Ramsay Bolton. Still you refused the call. But House Mormont remembers. The North remembers. We know no king but the King in the North whose name is Stark. I don't care if he's a bastard. Ned Stark's blood runs through his veins. He's my king from this day until his last day."

It's not just the characters on Game of Thrones and fans at home who were impressed with the ruler of Bear Island, either. The cast and crew on hand for actress Bella Ramsey's scenes were similarly impressed by the young star's work.
"From the moment she came in, she was on it: She was professional, and she was just brilliant," Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, told THR about working with Ramsey during the season. "There's an old adage about how actors should never work with children or animals, but that's B.S. When kids are as good as this young lady is, it's a joy to play opposite. She was absolutely amazing. When somebody comes in and is that good, it makes your job that much easier."

(23,061 posts)Love Danerys, Mother of Dragons. She and Arya are my favorite characters, although Brand is quite interesting and I wish we saw more of him.

(11,084 posts)The Mormont family has been pivotal on every front. Jeor Mormont was Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and gave Jon Snow guidance and the family sword. Jorah Mormont counseled Danaerys and saved her from the poison wine. And now Little Bear basically gave Jon Snow a crown.

(24,392 posts)Such an awesome character. The letter that she sent Stannis last season set the tone but her appearance this season has been awesome. And yes, House Mormont has had an incredible presence in the various storylines!
