Minnesota Homeowner Finds Bear Cooling Off In Kiddie Pool

The warm weather this past week has a lot of us seeking lakes and pools.

It turns out, a bear in northern Minnesota had the same idea.

Dave Zbaracki from Duluth took a picture of a bear in his backyard, relaxing in a kiddie pool.

Zbaracki says it looked like the bear just wanted to cool off, so he left it alone.

I've never had bears in my yard but I did see a possum there last summer.

and bald eagles and foxes at Lake Calhoun

Poor bear just trying to keep cool. I'm glad the guy decided not to bother him. Probably belongs to one of the neighbors...

I have a vested interest in helping the public understand bear behavior and how to not get both people and bears into bad situations because when those happen, the bear always ends up dead.

I was thinking more of the 'children in peril' thing or worse, harmed, and there's only so far we can or should go in making jokes.

But it's also tragic to see unnecessary animal deaths due to unnecessary human contact.
