(18,482 posts)...I'd like to abandon time zones as well. Everyone should get on board with Greenwich Mean Time.
What's that? You live in Kalamazoo and don't like the idea that you'll be waking up at 10AM and are due into work at noon? Too bad; get over it; you'll live. It's just a number.
The idea of time of day is linked to the sundial. Are we really still bound by that? We established time zones so that big slices of our geography weren't differing by minutes when railroads and telegraphs became common.
Stand with me now to eliminate stupid crap out of daily life! Thank you.

In July, 1908, Thunder Bay in Ontario, Canada became the first location to use DST. Other locations in Canada were also early to introduce Daylight Saving bylaws. >>>
