I had so many damaged shirts that my mom would just cut the loop off a new shirt. I never heard about a girl pulling the loops off.

When I was in school, they were called "fairy straps," and guys would snap them to be assholes.

I was still in the grades, but I do remember when this was 'a thing..." But the only time I remember it actually happening was when a girl in my class pulled the loop of the shirt of the boy sitting in front of her. The whole back of his shirt came off and he had to be sent home to change. It was a big controversy and after we found out what happened I don't remember anyone else trying it again...

I'm a girl, and I liked plenty of guys, but I would never have considered ripping his clothes to show it. Weird.
