(23,343 posts)I grind it at the store, then use it in an auto-drip maker that starts based on a clock. It's ready when I get up in the morning.
Black.
This Friday, I may add some whisky to it, just to help get through that awful day.

(17,442 posts)I make it in a flat bottomed filter drip four cup machine. I like the more complex flavored beans (or blends of beans) that have not been over roasted. I don't like the flavored coffees. I buy whole bean if available, but I never seem to remember to make it to the local roaster when they are open. I don't like Starbucks or Dunk-n-Donuts coffee. I drink Wawa coffee on the road to and from D.C.

(4,492 posts)I'm not very picky. I use my cousin's old Keurig with a reusable K-cup (saves a ton of $$ that way).
I like flavored coffees that are typically only available from September-December (Pumpkin Spice and all of the holiday ones. Right now my bag is peppermint mocha) so I stock up then (and ask for them as xmas gifts). Bought about 6 bags cheap on after Christmas clearance sales.
I take it with whole milk and one teaspoon Sugar in the Raw (or a similar store brand).
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)or carafe size reusable k-cup?
I have tried everything I know of to get the carafe pod to give me good coffee but no matter how much or little I use, no matter how many cups I set if for, no matter how strong I set it, I get medium brown colored water.
If I use a pre-made carafe pod I can get an OK brew but still not as strong as I'd like it. The 1-cup reusable k-cup seems to be kind of OK but I drink more than a cup and I just don't intend to sit there and make 3 cups of coffee to get my one cup. (I fill a 20oz go cup every day and that's my coffee for the day)
I've gone back to my stupid regular coffee maker and just buy whatever dumb crap is on sale. Very disappointed in the Keurig.
I drink it straight black - sometimes with 2 or 3 ice cubes to cool it down a little so I can chug faster.
crazycatlady
(4,492 posts)I got it in 2013 used. Not sure when it was originally from.
OriginalGeek
(12,132 posts)lol, when I go in the store to look at available pods, none of the boxes are rated for 2.0 or whatever it is the carafe generation needs to work properly. And the store people say "Oh, yeah, but ours are all compatible with the new machines even if they don't say they are..."
no they weren't.
crazycatlady
(4,492 posts)I haven't bought pods in years. My sister picked up the reusable K-cup when she was visiting and I haven't looked back.

(20,192 posts)With whole milk or half & half and Sweet & Low. I generally don't like flavored coffees. Other than that, I'm not picky. Brew my own most of the time with a cone filter. I'll use a Kuerig if that's all that's available, but I think they're terribly wasteful.

She returned to coffee several weeks later but now limits her consumption to 4 cups a day, more often 2 or 3.

True Dough
(17,305 posts)Usually green with some other flavor mixed in, like a form of citrus. I was really into licorice tea for a year or two and drinking it regularly, but I had a couple of instances where it made my heart race so I gave it up. Licorice has a property that can affect people's heart rates if consumed frequently enough, apparently.
Mostly I consume a lot of milk (including chocolate milk at times) and cranberry/cranraspberry/cranmango/crangrape juices.
discntnt_irny_srcsm
(18,479 posts)Some teas are too acidic for my stomach. I like fruit flavors with some lemon grass. Apple and chamomile are favorites. I use regular sugar or I have unsweetened iced tea. No milk or creamer in the tea for me.

(46,179 posts)Do you brew your own or do you favor a shop for coffee?
Yes. I brew it at home and get it at a few coffee spots, as well.
If a shop, which one and do you add anything for flavor?
I'll go to any coffee cart or shop; the ones I frequent most often are about location, rather than the coffee. They're on my way to work. I generally drink it black, if it's good coffee. No flavors. Sometimes I add some cream; I also often drink skinny lattes.
If you brew your own, do you have a favorite brand?
My favorite coffees come from grounds for change:

(18,479 posts)...at that coffee shop, I often feel foolish when lunch that day costs less than the morning coffee. I just wish balancing the cost of lunch and a coffee I like had less to do with guilt and more to do with freedom.
What does it say about my life that a 20 oz. coffee is $5.25 and, 100 yards down the road, triple cheeseburgers are 2 for $5?

(34,136 posts)Lately I've been using a variety found at Costco that comes in two pound bags. Not sure of the brand, but it's not fancy.
I use a The Scoop single serve coffee machine that makes a maximum size of fourteen ounces. It doesn't use the stupid pods, just a scoop or two of coffee grounds loose in the filter area. No paper filter, either, just a two level versions -metal filter followed by a permanent nylon mesh filter.
If I have to go into town early I like the coffee at the local Circle K convenience stores and they have the creamers I like - but it is a minimum of eight miles to the closest place that serves coffee so I seldom get it away from home.
My favorite creamer is International Delights Southern Butter Pecan - totally decadent and delicious!

(17,200 posts)Oh, I see. I'm a minimalist, I prefer mine black when I make it at home. Any medium roast will do, whatever is on sale. I even take Cafe du Monde black, because I'm a badass.
That only applies to homebrew, though. I find most commercial coffee to be pretty yucky, so I tend to take it with cream and sugar. Then again, I don't patronize boutique coffee shops, so maybe theirs is okay. In which case, I'd take it black.

(17,200 posts)... I was reading a memoir by a Navy rating in WW2, and one of his comments when they offered to promote him to Chief was "the three good things about being a Chief: you get a bill on your cap, a handle on your coffee mug, and a back on your chair." (He turned down the offer and didn't re-enlist)
So much more glamorous to be a junior officer.

(4,033 posts)I found this coffee about a year ago at my local grocer. It was on sale @ $3.68 for 10 ounces. I fell in love with it. One day I was waiting for my mom's prescription at the local Walmart. I was walking around & found they also had Cafe Bustelo but for $2.98 for 10 ounces. I now buy it there, but often I find that whoever has stocked the coffee has sliced the bags of coffee while opening the box and I have found 4 or 5 bags sliced. I take them to the register, because if they just sit on the shelf inventory won't record that they need to restock.
Somehow they haven't been able to get the stockers to not slice the bags.
I drink it black with 2 equals.
