Those things scare me. I just got a computer with Cortana. I tried taking it off. You can't.

Nope. You can turn it off where you find it, but I keep finding it in places I never expected to.

I tried turning it off, you can't. Everywhere you turn, there's this creepy thing talking to you that you don't want talking to you.
I picture it like being the black-cloaked white-masked monster in "Scream."

There is a way you can disable it, I'm told. How to Geek had an article, from memory. It's complicated and didn't really work for me.
