**Please include title of the book**

My favorite so far:

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. And then the murders began.

I first met Dean not long after my wife and I split up. I had just gotten over a serious illness that I won’t bother to talk about, except that it had something to do with the miserably weary split-up and my feeling that everything was dead. With the coming of Dean Moriarty began the part of my life you could call my life on the road...and then the murders began...

My contributions:

1. Call me Ismael. And then the murders began.

Moby Dick, obviously.

This doesn't work very well, but it allows me to add this one.

2. Call me Jonah. And then the murders began.

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.

Which given the outcome is a bit more fitting, if only obliquely.

Thanks, DUers.
