The copyright dispute is about this specific translation, not the work itself. nt Democracyinkind Apr 2014 #4

It's only volumes 1-10 of Marx Engels "Collected Works" in the Lawrence and Wishart 1991 translation. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10244403

It's still unfortunate, but the site isn't losing all of Marx and Engels, most of their work is in the public domain.

Capitalism taking advantage of the premier anti-capitalists and their works. Anyway, I thought copyrights were only good for 75 years, although I know they can be renewed.

But like DemocracyinKind said, they have the copyright on this translation, which they produced. The publishers want to have their own digital edition to sell to universities, which you know, how big of a market is that at this point? Maybe there is, I don't know,

That still doesn't make it accessible to us proles.

They may sell some copies for university libraries, but my students get a link to Marxists.org on their syllabus for History of Economic Ideas. Universities love free stuff, but may not be aware that it is available.
