(22,380 posts)When i think of "bomb bomb bomb Iran" - and all we destroyed in Iraq....
what happens is this::
I'll put this on my desk top for a while. It is mindblowing.
is what I have thought and said so many times to people. Besides some really wonderful people in the different countries, there is so much wonderful architectural beauty and so much history that is being or could be destroyed it just makes me sick!

(22,380 posts)Iraq.
And what's his godawful face Rumsfeld kept saying they were carrying the same urn away from the museum that was not protected.
Because the troops were protecting the ministry of oil.
You and I are on the same page.
I will now go and give you a belated valentine heart.

Iraq, the looting of artifacts and art, the greedy consumption of American tax payer dollars by the bush puppet government. Egypt, Afghanistan, same show, different players is my take.
I was in college at a time when there were many Iranian students in the US, both Arab, and Persian Muslims. One of my part time jobs was tutoring foreign students who needed practice with English. Much to my surprise, I received more tutoring than I offered.
My friend Bijan, was the son of a General in Iran. His room mate was a conservative member of the Jewish faith. Another Iranian was the son of a diplomat who spoke so many languages he could not say in what language he dreamed. The women were even more amazing in their academic achievements.
Thank you for reminding me.

(204 posts)I respectfully remind you of the campaign launched from these mosques against the Baha'i minority in Iran.
The founder of the Baha'i Faith had his execution order signed in this mosques and many thousands have died since.
That is the blood that tints these windows!
Mira
(22,380 posts)the blood of victims and innocents tints many places of worship of all kinds of faith all over the globe. Man's inhumanity to man soaked into the ground before we walk on it just about everywhere.
Beauty can transcend this - and I am glad I can allow it to do its job.

(20,783 posts)but this is the first I have ever heard of the Pink Mosque. It is amazing. Here is a rotating 3-D version of the interior.

Hint: To make it freakier, try zooming OUT all the way and then rotating.

(204 posts)The problem is that as a member of the Baha'i Faith I would be placing my life in danger of imprisonment and torture. I have also visited Israel and my passport has the stamp to prove it.
The typical way people are imprisoned there for being a Baha'i is calling them spies for Israel, a summary trial and given a sentence of 20 years in Evin Prison in Tehran.
I'd really like to see the bridge at Isfahan. I have a postcard and it is beautiful.
