A first for me

Two actually.

I've never seen a hummingbird's legs before today. I've seen their feet but never their legs.



No meat on that tiny little drumstick.


I've heard their squeaky little chirp before but never caught them in the act until today.




Not great photos...just sharing.

Perhaps it could use a bit of colour correction here to make it pop but it's a very nice photo! I don't often see hummingbirds and the scale here offered by the chain link fence is great. Good DOF with the blurring of the background too.

Don't you love it when you see something different in a critter after you take the photo?

On another note, there seem to be fewer hummingbirds around here this year. People who have had them in the past don't seem to have them. I have a friend with a bunch of feeders and I used to love to go to her yard and take photos of them. She has only seen one this year.

I do love it! I was thrilled about that leg. lol

I have 6 hummingbirds between my front and back yards. I usually have more.
