How's everything up north?
Leaves are turning, but it hasn't frosted yet, at least where we live. It looks like we could have another extended autumn like last year. It's so beautiful here in the fall, my favorite season.

(68,644 posts)Flying back from Anchorage was cool, the airline staff kindly removed the drunk dude passing out on my shoulder.
But I was amazed by a halo on the horizon, I think it might have been Northern Light related because I've never seen the effect before.

(46,436 posts)I saw them once a couple of years ago when I was flying to CA. I was entranced. We're supposed to be getting some good ones tonight if the weather cooperates. It's clear right now, but I think there's a front moving in.

(68,644 posts)Dormant, of course, but with a starboard window seat it was obvious that Rainier, St. Helens, etc., are all in a row with several others.
Cool stuff!

(9,000 posts)I had seen this one in a specific area and I went out very early, set up behind a stone wall in camo and waited. I was watching the area I saw it in the past and had my position picked so the morning light was right.
I waited and waited and nothing was happening. Typical. After a couple of hours I decide to leave and as I turned around there it was coming through the woods behind me. I got a couple of pics and the Coyote froze because it heard the camera shutter but couldn't see me. Where it froze there was a ray of light coming through the canopy and I clicked away. It didn't move until I moved and it ran off.
This was taken with my new Tamron 150-600mm lens hand held. The crazy thing is that I was so surprised that I forgot that the lens was set to 600mm when I clicked away and the Coyote was only about 20' from me. Oh well.
