Related: About this forumHey Everyone! Sorry!
I'm OK. I have had a lot of doctor visits lately with more to go. If that wasn't enough we've recently learned that my husband needs surgery.
Seems some Iraq vets have developed tumors on their backs and my husband is one of them. He had one removed when we lived in Germany (non-cancerous) and now he has 6 more. The doctors don't believe they are cancerous but they do want them removed. Of course I'm still worried about the tumors being cancer. We'll know soon enough. Surgery is next week.
Over Thanksgiving my brother-in-law was hospitalized with a serious condition, so I was busy with that. His meds (cholesterol) were destroying the muscles in his legs. It's a possible side-effect. He couldn't walk at all. He is now better and getting stronger. His meds have been changed.
On top of all of that, we are preparing to retire and move. Lots of work, classes, paperwork & housecleaning involved.
It's been a crazy time. Very busy and very stressful.
I am sorry for not letting you guys know sooner. I didn't mean for anyone to worry.
You all mean the world to me and I should have made the effort to let you all know.
Again, I'm sorry!
Love you all!!

Tell your brother in law to look into Coenzyme Q10. Everyone who is on or has been on statin drugs should be taking it.
Mainly though, try to take it easy, and take advantage of your latitude and get some more woodpecker photos!!
Sending vibes to hubby!!

(90,775 posts)I'll try and get some photos.

(18,219 posts)Things sound hectic, and too many problems, but at least it sounds like all will resolve itself. We all understand that there are times when we are too busy to worry about DU and the computer. I guess that it is worrying about your health that makes it matter.

(90,775 posts)Still, it was wrong of me and I do feel bad about it.
It was all I could do to focus on what was in front of me. I got some help with that and feel better.

(22,380 posts)I'm wishing the same to come for your husband and brother in law. You have your hands full. All we needed is to know you are OK after what you personally have suffered.
A big communal hug goes out to you.

(90,775 posts)I'm OK. The peg tube needs to come out and I'll know when in January 2015. I'm not gaining weight but I am now holding steady. My blood work is good. I have another scan in January and that will let me know if I'm still cancer free.
I am sorry I worried everyone.

(31,395 posts)Sorry to hear about your husband's and BIL's difficulties; sounds like 2014 can't be over soon enough for your family. Hope 2015 brings better health all around!
When you retire and move, will you stay in your area?
Solly Mack
(90,775 posts)2014 was memorable, if nothing else.
We're staying in the state until my current cancer doctors release me. They will set up appointments with doctors in the state we're moving to later. My doctors were worried about my moving too soon and without referrals.

(31,395 posts)but to move to another state is a BIG change. All new everything!
Have you identified exactly where you are going? Family nearby?

(60,074 posts)If this is service related, they have to take care of him and all costs related to the illness.
Solly Mack
(90,775 posts)We're doing it by the book and hitting every page along the way. He has to be officially retired to be officially signed up though. His evals are for both the VA and his active duty, soon to be retired status.
We've kept our own records to make sure every little ache and pain was documented.
Thanks!

(60,074 posts)What helped me was I was the third person in a row that went down with injury from this one mail route. If there is a history for the same illness, and those sufferers got the service related designation, your case gets stronger.
Get in touch with his Iraq comrades and see if they have the same ailments. That's what helped me with the VA. I got 10%, but that's what I expected. I get $130 a month for bilateral tinnitus and hearing loss. The letters sent from my Army buddies attesting to the same issues, and acting as character witnesses helped a whole lot. There's a lot of deaf O5h20's out there. Morse Intercept - 05h20
