and it was doing this all the way from Redding to Ashland:

But on the way down, when I got to about Yreka, it started to clear up. And when I got to Shasta it was like the OP. The images don't even begin to do it justice:

Then, after I passed Shasta and headed toward Dunsmuir, it returned to this:

Got my cervical vertebra injection this morning. We'll see how it goes. I still have to decide on how to fix the problem rather than simply trying to ameliorate the pain.

Up toward the California-Oregon border.

It's beautiful up there. My images don't do it justice.

If you want, check out my reply to NV Whino. I posted a bunch of other images, some of which show the soggy nature of the scenery in the Cascades and Siskiyou's during winter weather.

I have not been there in a long time but I used to run through there for a couple years and I was always in awe of the scenery no matter the weather, which was often rainy.

I like the mist and trees but the mountain is always beautiful.

Be well!

Hope the shot helps. Sounds like you might be facing surgery? That's never an easy decision.
I put off having my hip replacement for as long as I could stand the pain of bone on bone. When I could
no longer walk around the grocery store, it was time.
