I think, though, that you should somehow take out the distracting red tie-things, especially the one on the far right. The play of tone-on-tone against the white background, with the darker accents, is gorgeous.

You are gifted.

First, I live in farm country. Some really big farms, but lots of very small family farms, so cows are a favorite subject. I've got lots of photos of cows with huge tags pierced into their ears. I kind of liked that these ladies just had to wear a necklace instead of being branded, so I decided not to edit it out.

Thanks for the props! There will be more cows!

years back, before cutting out meat and cow's milk, I had a small farm and small herd of cows... nothing better than going out on a cold morning and resting my head on their warm flank while milking...

They are incredibly expressive. I can't tell you how many cow shots I've had ruined because they heard me stop the car. They all come running, a bunch of posers.

In this photo they were already huddled by the road. They got excited when I stopped to say hello, but this is real. Many times I've stopped to take pictures of contented cows and they jump up and run towards me before I can set the camera.

That is so freakin' cool. I wonder if that's part of the reason the cows like to see me. I usually have the music blaring in the car, though I tend to turn it down when I stop, thinking I'll disturb them. Hmm...now I have to think of what cows would like. Obviously Lourdes is okay if it's on trombone.

in addition to being one of my favorites of late, Michael Caine plays an old retired conductor of Symphony orchestras. In the movie is a scene where he sits on a rock and conducts the bells of cows in the pasture.
